Minutiae and random thoughts
My coffee maker decided that it is taking a holiday. I have been temporarily reduced to making coffee in a pot on the stove.
I am really glad that I didn't spend a lot of money on a table and
chairs for the kitchen. The kids are beating the crap out of
them.
A spray bottle filled with water and vinegar is one of my best
friends. Spray chair (kitchen) liberally and let sit for several
minutes. Wipe with paper towel.
I keep thinking about buying a buttload of bar towels or washclothes to
use for cleaning instead of paper towels. Would it really be
better for the environment? Or would the extra loads going
through the washing machine and dryer wipe it out?
Listerine has recalled Agent Cool Blue. If I were cool, I would
have links set up for you, but I'm not. So I won't. But
Becca will be very disappointed at bedtime when she goes to brush her
teeth.
I have been having OCD days, otherwise known as 'spring
cleaning'. Yesterday I went for the dining room. I magic
erased all the crayon. By the way, Costco does not stock magic
erasers by the gross. I am quite perturbed. I then washed
the walls and scrubbed the baseboards. I dusted the blinds and
the light fixture. I vacuumed. I tried to carpet clean, but
it is broken. A replacement piece has been ordered. I
wanted to wash the chairs down with my Murphy's Wood Oil Soap, but I
didn't have any more bar towels/washclothes. I do have some nice
furniture wax to put on the chairs afterwards, but again, the bar
towels/washclothes.
I got into a depressed funk yesterday because my cleaning frenzy ground
to a halt. I cheered myself up a bit by washing the curtains from
the family room.
The family room floor is hardwood. Unsealed. You are not
supposed to wash unsealed hardwood with water. Every time I try
to wipe something up, it takes up some of the stain. I could say
heck with it and wash the whole thing and apply a layer of wax.
It is a large room. That would be a hell of a lot of
buffing. To rent a buffer would be $50 per day. Would the
layer of wax even last long enough to make the effort and cost
worthwhile? How muc hwould it cost to have the floor
sealed? hmmm.
There will be more later.

we just had our hardwood floors refinished and it cost us about $800... but before that i had put some wax on it from lowe's as a temporary solution. i think it would help with your problem. its in a yellow bottle. plus it was really easy to apply - i did it with a clean swiffer pad.
