a thought

I went and set myself up with an Amazon wish list tonight.  My birthday is coming up and it will be easier for Ben to just direct people there.  I am not hinting for anyone to visit my wishlist.  I am just setting up for the next part.

While there, I started looking for wishlists for people that I know.  I found some.  Some I am unsure of.  Some don't exist.  Most don't have shipping addresses.  Some (Miss Multiple-Personality) have shipping addresses that are two years old and half the country away from where they currently live.  Some (Miss Multiple-Personality) have what are obviously toys for their children that were added to the wish list back in 2003.  Said children are too old for those toys.

Anywho, I was thinking about how nice it would be for someone to be going about their usual day and then get a nice pick-me-up by receiving an unexpected gift at their door.  Courtesy of Amazon and the Postal Service, not me being a stalker.  Not something overly pricey, because, hey, I have three kids to feed and clothe and pay for college.  It was just a random thought.

Obviously, due to the issues which I stated above, it would be difficult to accomplish this with a lot of you.  And then, if I hit a few people, would the ones left out have their feelings hurt?

But I like the thought.  And perhaps people should update their wishlists and include shipping addresses.  Because I don't keep track of any of that stuff.

I've thought of that before when I'm searching baby registries. I'll click on the wrong name and be looking at totally random people's plans for their child and think "how cool would it be to be able to just anonymously buy them something off of here and ship it to them?" Or maybe I'm thinking how cool it would have been for someone to have done that for us. Either way, it won't happen.

But wishlists for those you know, very cool.

Amazon keeps shipping addresses on wishlists confidential. I have randomly purchased gifts for people from their wishlists and have always been informed of this during the order process.

I am aware of that. A lot of the lists stated that there was no address and that I could enter one when I purchase. And I don't keep an address book.

I use Amazon wish lists, as well as their gift organizer for everyone. Including my kids.
Did you find my list on there? Should I be expecting a present for my birthday? :) :)
