Becca bits
Becca now types her name on the computer, as well as Mommy and Daddy.  On her own without us spelling it for her.  She plays lots of computer games.  She is quite good at the memory games.  If I try to play memory with her irl, she won’t turn over the cards, but she will point to which ones are matching pairs. She is into Disney Princess.  She likes to push a chair over to the sink, take...

Lighter Things
I have odd habits.  If I use paper towels to dry my hands, I only use one.  It is then spread on the counter to dry.  I will use it several times to dry my hands.  I figure, I just washed them, they are clean, therefore the parper towel is clean.  The final incarnation is whn it is used to clean the kitchen table or counter.  I do use a cleaning product for that. Ben mocks me for this.  I  see no...

Thoughts
The holidays are a hard time for some.  I am thinking now about those who want children and are unable to have them.  Ben and I got very lucky, and we are well aware of it.  Not that it was an easy journey, but others have gone through worse, and still have not reached the goal. I have been sitting here tonight and remembering how I felt. Christmas.  A holiday about family.  Especially...

Update
I have spoken to the boy’s mother and he now has 14 stitches under his eye.  The cut was just over an inch long, but seeing as how it is on his face, they closed it tightly.  He has a consulatation with a plastic surgeon on Wednesday.  He seems to be doing okay today.  Apparently, he got up this morning and informed his parents that his face is a mess.  He is currently playing outside with...

Bad things
We had some friends over for a fajita night tonight.  They were the ‘old guard’.  The friends we hung out with back when Ben and I first were married.  We now have the three kids.  One other has a newborn.  And one other has a five year old and a three year old.  The five year old has ADHD. Said five year old child was chasing our dog, AV, all evening.  I kept telling him to stop and...

Christmas Shopping
The Christmas shopping in the Vierck household is done by me.  If you have ever recieved a gift from us, I was the one who thought of it and purchased it.  On a few occassions, Ben has handled some items.  In those cases, I have made a point of telling the gift recipient that Ben selected the gift, because, let’s face it, Ben gives somewhat odd gifts. This year, Ben has put me on a budget...

Back on
Thanks to Lindy, vacation is back on.  With a few minor adjustments.  We are now leaving Sunday and returning Tuesday.  Let me remind you that the house will be occupied by our house-sitter, who is not worthy of a name here, and our LARGE dog.  Leave our diapers alone. Instead of Williamsburg, which we will no longer have the time for, we are going to Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City.  They have...

No go
With a repair estimate of $1500 and 10 hours, we will not be going on our vacation.

Vacation
Ben and I have bad trip luck.  Every time we take a trip, something bad happens. New Year’s Day 1994.  We had driven to Massachusettes with my little brother for my dad’s wedding.  We left in the evening.  There was a stop at an emergency room in Pennsylvania because my arm was hurting (I don’t know why and they couldn’t figure it out) enough for me to be crying.  We ran...

No cherry
Here’s a good one a friend told me happened to her. She was holding something that her daughter wanted.  Said daughter just turned 2.  Daughters asks for item.  Mother says, ‘Say pretty please’.  Daughter says, ‘pretty please’.  Mother, ‘Say pretty please with a cherry on top’.  Daughter, ‘Pretty please with a cherry on top’.  ...

Sleeping Beauty
Becca is heavily into Disney Princess.  We have some of the read-a-long books.  She likes Cinderella best, followed by Sleeping Beauty.  If you are familiar with the story, try to remember the part where Maleficant shows up at the christening.  ‘She shall prick her fingr on the spindle of a spinning wheel and DIE!’ My child, ‘die!  I love die!’ A few days later, the...

Danskos
After reading the reviews of several people, I have decided to join the league of Dansko owners.  I have purchased my first pair, in the Professional black oiled leather style.  Now I need help. I am aware that the bed of the shoe molds to your foot after a few wearings.  I don’t want to mess up this crucial process.  I tend to not wear slip-on shoes with socks.  I would rather not wear...

Future plans
I had my annual check-up with my OB/GYN yesterday.  I asked if the uterus was okay to handle another pregnancy.  I have had two c-sections, which is why I asked.  The uterus can tend to thin near the scar tissue, and some women are advised against future pregnancies, due to the risk of uterine rupture.  Also, the poor ute was pretty stretched out with the twins. Dr. said yes, it looked fine.  I...

Girdles
I have read on the twin moms boards that several of them have had luck wearing girdles.  Apparently, holding the abdominal muscles in all day helps them remember where they should be.  It seems to have a reduction in the pooch that tends to be a twin mom fate.  I have therefor purchased a girdle.  Without trying to be rude, I have to ask a question.  If you are wearing a 3XL, what will a...

The Tooth Fairy robbed me
When I was about 4, I was standing behind a kid in the neighborhood of the same age.  He was attempting to sweep his driveway with a full-sized broom.  I ended up having half of one of my front teeth knocked out.  I didn’t get my first tooth until I was 16 months old.  My mom likes to say that she would tell people she was going to give me a set of dentures for my first birthday.  Getting...

Rolling
The boys are 5 months old.  They are also mobile.  We didn’t get to this point with Becca until almost 8 months.  I brought up some of Becca’s old toys for the boys yesterday.  I spread out their blanket, set them tummy-side down in front of the toys and went into the kitchen.  I returned FIVE minutes later to Dougie screaming his head off.  He had been playing with the caterpillar and...
