Stupid stupid rocks
Becca and I went to Home Depot yesterday where I purchased 8 large bags of garden compost.
Last fall I paid a company to draw up landscape designs for my
yard. I am afraid to make plant selections myself. I would
have a garden which looked fantastic for two weeks out of the year, but
the rest of the time it would be horrible.
Anywho, Ben and I started in the section in front of the dining...
Score!
I have been checking out craigslist
and ebay trying to find an outside play system for the boys for this
summer. The St. Louis Mother of Twins Club has a for sale page
for club members. Last Saturday I found a climber
for $35 that had just posted. It’s not quite this model, but
extremely close. For that price, heck yeah. We will see
what the boys think of it. It is probably a little...
Diapers again
Dougie seems to be better now. There have been two solid poops so
far. Of course, one of the was a blow-out yesterday afternoon.
Magnus, on the other hand, blew out at least four outfits
yesterday. I put the dirty diaper count for him at 10.
There may be some I missed counting. He didn’t give up all night
long. There was a diaper at 11:45, 2:30 and first thing this
morning. And in...
I am a screw-up
Two of Ben’s uncles died this past Saturday. Tonight was the
viewing for Uncle Bob. Ben went up first and then came back to
watch the kids while I went there. I get there and stand in line
to talk to the widow.
And what do I say when I get there?
‘Hi. I can’t make it to the funeral tomorrow. I couldn’t
get anyone to watch the kids. I made you a cake. Would...
Diaper count
Current poopy diaper score for today:
Becca: 1
Magnus: 5
Douglas: 5
Also, a section of the living room rug which requires attention from
the carpet cleaner when I get back tonight. There are several
more hours to go.
Stinky house
Today is day four of Dougie having the runs. It’s day three for
Magnus. Dougie also likes to toss in some incredibly nasty
gas. The smell in my house brings to mind either the primate
house at the zoo or a pig farm. And I am headed into non-stop
crib-sheet washing land.
Becca has allergies. I’m very happy about the rain last
night. She is on Zyrtec and has still been sneezing...
Watch this show!
Shalom in the Home
is a new show which is fantastic! Unlike Nanny 911 and
Supernanny, this show seems to offer more constructive advise. I
don’t know if I can quite put my finger on the difference. It
just seems to me that Nanny 911 and Supernanny are more about the blame
game of what everyone is doing wrong. This guy is much more laid
back and nicer about the way he presents advice....
Woah
Links number 2 and 3 are not safe for work.
After another play session with Dougie and a loss of a good amount of
hair, I decided to schedule my shearing appt. Yes, I will end up
looking like a switch-hitter. Feel free with the jokes.
Anywho, I get on the computer to look up the number of the salon. First, I check blogs. I see that Fluid Pudding has pinged. I look. I LOVE the shirt! Fluid...
Weird teeth
Magnus has had his two bottom teeth since a few days before
Christmas. I just noticed that where his right front tooth will
be, there is the teething blister of a tooth about to appear.
Which makes sense, as he has been waking up at night some lately with
an instant piercing scream which sends us running for Tylenol.
The weird part is that the left side is not showing signs of a tooth
about...
Hair
I am starting to think that the only safe way for me to play with the
boys is for me to get a 1/2 inch buzz cut. Between Magnus pulling
and eating my hair and Dougie rolling over my head and yanking my hair
all the time, my scalp hurts!
How bad could it look?
We've got to be clean
I need a cleaning person. One to come in every other week.
Someone to clean my kitchen floor. It is impossible to do during
the day with the kids, and by the time they are asleep, the last thing
I want to do is clean. And as long as I have someone coming in,
they might as well get my bathrooms. And the highchairs.
Those are awful.
Know anyone? How much? And would they be willing to take...
Mortgage
After 11 months of payments, we have paid down the principal on our
mortgage by $3000. Woohoo! I won’t tell you how much we
have actually paid, because you really don’t want to vomit onto your
keyboard. But it’s progress!
Overdue updates
We went to dye eggs with Becca Saturday evening. I put vinegar
into an assortment of coffee mugs on the kitchen counter. Becca
pushed her chair over and stood there so that she could drop in the
coloring tablets. We watched them dissolve and then I put the 1/2
cup water in each. I had put the boiled eggs onto a dinner plate
lined with paper towels so that they wouldn’t roll around...
I don't know what the heck they are teaching...
Becca’s Kids Day Out program is at a presbyterian church. It is
to be expected that they will discuss some religious topics. She
does go around singing ‘God Made Me’ every once in a while. She
asks me to sing it with her, but it is not one of the songs I learned
at Vacation Bible School.
Today I hid some of last year’s empty easter eggs for her to practice
with. I do...
Two things
This morning I told Becca that tomorrow she will see her Uncle Giles,
Saturday she will see Aunt Angela, Uncle Charlie and Josh, and Sunday
the Easter Bunny will come, but we don’t get to see him, just like
Santa Claus.
Becca informs me that the Easter Frog comes with the Easter Bunny.
I think this because the botanical garden has someone walking around in
a large frog costume. She gave...
Back to the tummy
I discovered recently, yes, it took me awhile because I’m not terribly
observant, that my abdominal muscle are shot to hell and back.
I overate a yummy Subway sub. Completely stuffed myself.
And was amazed by my stomach. I look almost 5 months pregnant and
the baby was kicking. Yes. You could see the food shifting
around through my shirt. I had Ben watch. And put his hand
on my...
Yum!
Isn’t it great when you get a craving for some type of food and you
already have it in your house?! French fries with
mayonaisse. Drool. Freezer fries and I have my Real Mayo in
the fridge. With some seasoned salt. And this would
contribute to why I can’t fit into my post-Becca jeans.
Well, this, and the fact that my abdominal muscles are completely trashed. But that is...
I hate clothes shopping
For myself. All I want is some cute capris and some shorts.
I need something that goes to the waist, none of those low-rise clothes
for me. I would just end up with my belly hanging over the
waistband, and let me assure, it wouldn’t be attractive.
Bermuda shorts are a no-go. I have short legs. I look like
a freak in long shorts. Short-shorts actually work best for
me. Not at the...
Productivity
Yesterday I folded four laundry baskets worth of laundry. That is
incredibly impressive in light of the fact that several items were
folded multiple times. Yes, the boys helped me. Magnus
loves to stand near the basket and pull clothes out one by one.
Dougie waits until I put the basket up on the sofa to get it away from
Magnus and dumps the whole thing onto himself at once.
I went through...
Twin mom sale
The sale was today. All that effort and prep-time was well worth it. And my feet HURT!
All of my equipment sold except for the double-seat, which is just an
infant double seat, no toys or soothing vibrations. Oh well, it
was free second-hand. I will probably just end up donating it
somewhere. As you know I am opposed to dumping things into
landfills that can still be used by someone.
Also,...
Banana Nut Bread 2
Last night, Becca and I made the banana nut bread. When it was
done and cooled, Becca had no interest in eating any. She kept
trying to talk me into making more. I explained that we had to
eat the two loaves that were already made before we could make
more. She snatched the piece I had in my hand and ate it.
“Let’s make more!”
“There is still another loaf and a half...
Ooh, that smell!
I decided to make myself dinner tonight. Something that I haven’t
had since the first trimester with the boys. Something with
garlic. Which I was eating so often (read, everyday) that even
freshly showered you could smell me walk into a room. Something
that I stopped eating because Ben BEGGED me to. Behold.
When I saw this on the show, he added lemon juice to the sauce as well
as...
Bad judgement on my part
I dumped off all the stuff for the twin-mom sale last night and I feel
GOOD! Done! Don’t have to stress over that anymore.
While finishing getting it ready, I erred.
You have to label everything with a 3x5 index card with oodles of
info. For clothing, it has to pinned on. For equipment, it
has to be put into a ziplock-type sandwhich (that doesn’t look quite
right) baggie and...
Relief
I was without phone, internet or cable from two hours after the storm
Sunday to this morning. That isn’t kind for someone who stays at
home.
Tonight I will be dropping off my stuff for the twin mom sale.
Whatever doesn’t sell, I will be trying to sell later at a yard sale in
May. Because I am not selling crappy stuff, that is for
Goodwill. If something doesn’t sell, it...
Downright weird
I fed the boys their breakfast in their highchairs. Magnus
decided he was done first, so I cleaned him up and put him in the
family room to play. Dougie wanted to spend a bit more time
playing with his fruit puffs.
After about another two minutes, I cleaned up Dougie and took him to
the family room. Magnus was standing next to the toy box,
browsing. I noticed huge patches of red stuff smeared...
