Oh my

A bit of morbidness
About twice a year Barnes & Noble has a clearance sale online.  I browse through and will end up with about 8 or so books each time.  One of the books I chose this last time was Marrying Mozart.  Mine is hardcover and I paid $4.98.  It’s a good sale. So I finished the book last night.  I really don’t have that much knowledge of Mozart’s life.  I have watched...

True Wife Confession 2
I purchase Pepperidge Farm Verona cookies for myself.  They come with either Strawberry filling or Apricot-Raspberry.  Which one it is makes no difference to me.  But I purchase the Apricot-Raspberry because Ben hates peaches and apricots.  That way, I have them all to myself.

True Wife Confession 1
Ben will spend more time arranging all the dirty dishes in the right side of the sink than it would take to put them in the dishwasher.

A little bit of freakiness
So Ben is out tonight at his reunion ‘hangout at a winery’ thing.  Kids were all asleep by 7:30.  I settle in with my knitting to watch Princess Diaries 2. I finish Princess Diaries 2.  I also have Constantine and Manchurian Candidate (the newer one with Denzel) MOXI’d.  I’m not sure if Ben wants to watch those also or not.  I surf cable.  I find War of the Worlds. When...

A brief potty story
Dougie had a poopy diaper (does this sound familiar?) so I cleaned him up and took the diaper out to the garage to go in the trash.  I come back into the house to find all three kids in the kitchen.  On the floor is a diaper.  I immediately assumed that one of the boys was just carrying it around.  As in, a clean diaper. Becca was eating a popsicle.  I had not given her a popsicle.  She opened...

Reduce Reuse Recycle or I'm better than you
Today we received a mailing from St. Louis County Health.  The topic was recycling and meeting the county’s 50% waste diversion goal.  Allow me to share.  This page is the back-to-school page. Reduce *  Make a list before you go; it will remind you of what you set out to purchase and minimize impulse buying. Nope.  Don’t do it.  I should.  There was a time while I was pregnant with...

Mercenary me
It’s time for the twin mom fall sale.  I have already put at least 5 hours into prep for this, sorting through seasonal clothes, soaking the ones that need it in Oxiclean, hanging them on hangers.  This doesn’t even include the time that will have to be spent in filling out the little cards with description, price, etc. and pinning on each article of clothing. That would be two or...

Magnus head update
Yesterday Dougie had a poopie diaper.  Nothing very exciting.  That happens once or twice everyday.  I took the dirty diaper out into the trash in the garage.  Gone MAYBE one full minute.  Come back into the house and Magnus is screaming his head off walking toward me in the kitchen,  with a new large lump on his temple.  Perhaps I should invest in the helmet. Also, this week, on a prior...

Yesterday
Cleaned the house for Becca’s teacher coming by.  Vacuumed the entire first floor.  Went around with dustpan and brush to collect stray raisins and crushed goldfish.  Lit candles so it wouldn’t smell too much like a dirty diaper.  Fed kids lunch and put boys down for nap.  Did two loads of laundry.  Ben came home and loaded the dishwasher.  You know, just in case the teacher wanted to...

Absolutely cool
Becca is starting preschool next week.  With the school district at the Early Childhood Education Center.  Three days a week.  Three hours a day.  It will be great for her to get all that time to play with kids her own age. The really great part?  Her teacher called yesterday and is coming to our house tomorrow to meet Becca and chat with us for about a half hour. I am dumbstruck.  I was...

More with the wounding
This morning Dougie wanted some cuddle attentions.  At least, that is what he told me.  Did I mention that Dougie has three teeth now? I lifted him up onto the bed with me and that sweet innocent child leaned down and bit my butt!  He broke the skin and drew blood. I am now walking around with a little red circle band-aid and neosporin because it friggin’ hurts.

Another wounding
Magnus is very good at hurting himself.  Today he chose this method: he climbed onto a dining room chair, shook the chair causing it to tip, fell taking Magnus with it head-first into the windowsill. Okay, maybe he wouldn’t have chosen that if he had realized. He now has a lump on his forehead, centered nicely.  It is about 1 1/2 inches around.  It sticks out almost 3/4 of an inch.  Very...

Book cleaning
We have insufficient shelf space for our books.  They have surpassed 5 floor to ceiling bookcases.  So I am bagging up the 8-tracks (Chris, email me or have your friend do so about pick-up please) and putting my trash books (romance novels) in the milk crates.  This clears up space and makes me look more intelligent at the same time!  I also found a medium sized box of hard-covers yesterday and...

Culture
I have decided that the kids are of an age where Ben and I should be able to go out occasionally of an evening.  The Fox has Spamalot coming.  We went to see Beauty and the Beast with friends once.  We had box tickets and ate at the Fox before the show.  When you sit in the box, they come and serve (you pay seperately) coffee, drinks and dessert while you enjoy the show.  If you are going to...
