Why is it necessary for babies to sleep in their cribs?  Why is it necessary for Rebecca to learn to fall asleep without sucking on a boob?  Think about it.

The boob thing.  You can say that she needs to learn to fall asleep on her own.  Okay.  But it is then acceptable for a baby to sleep with a pacifier for several years.  How is it any different?  From the point of view of well-being for the baby.  If the baby goes to sleep sucking on something, they go to sleep sucking on something.  The only difference here is the item on which they suck.

What about the sleeping on their own thing?  I sleep with Ben every night.  I do not sleep well when he isn’t there.  I am 30 years old.  Am I supposed to sleep in a separate room?  Does this mean I am weak?  No.  At least, I don’t think that would indicate so.  Other things might.  So why is it necessary for Becca to learn these things?

She is now sleeping peacefully.  She did not fall asleep with the booby.  She is, however, sleeping in our bed.  She is, also, very hurt.  When she realized that she wouldn’t be getting booby for sleeping, she just stared at me for 5 or 10 minutes.  Perhaps there is something to be said for society breaking apart a family unit.

Or maybe I’m just a hormonal emotional wreck of a mother.
