I went into the drs office today for bloodwork and an ultrasound to verify that the lupron and birth control pills had properly suppressed me.
The very first time Ben and I tried to do IVF, we were on lupron. We went in for the suppression ultrsound prior to starting the stim drugs, and got cancelled, due to a cyst. The following two fresh cycles, we were on the antagon protocol. We (me) took shots of antagon about every other day, a few days after starting stims.
There was no cyst today, but the drs office just called to say that my estradial level was high. I get to go ahead and take the lupron tomorrow, but then take antagon shots Sat., Sun. and Mon. I then return to lupron on Tues. and go in for another blood test for them to check the estradial level before I start stims Tues. night. That is, assuming that the estradial does come down, so we don’t get cancelled.
And here I was, just asking the dr today about the possibility of being coasted, since I was coasted on my last fresh cycle, and he was saying that part of that was from the antagon last time. He also said, which he told us when we first went to him for the frozen cycle that got Becca, that it is very hard to determine how long to coast on an antagon cycle.
This definately has the possibility to make me nervous.
On the plus side, on our last coasted cycle, we got 17 eggs, 15 of which fertilized and 9 of those made it to blastocyst. We transferred 3, which turned out to just have been dropped off in my cervix, which won’t make anyone pregnant, and froze 6. Of the 6 frozen, when thawed, 2 didn’t make it, 2 were pretty crappy, and 2 were excellent, which gave us Becca. So there is till some hope.
In the meantime, we get to drop about another $600 on three days worth of antagon.
