Yesterday was my dr’s appt. I had no weight gain in the past two weeks. Some may say that isn’t a big deal. We are talking about two babies in the third trimester here. They are gaining weight. This means that I am losing weight. I don’t need to lose weight. I am only up 28 lbs, including the IVF cycle. I need to have some fat stores. I am planning to breastfeed two babies. Plus, when you burn fat, your body releases ketones, which are not healthy for babies. My ketone level has gone from trace to right inbetween small and moderate.
Most of the time, I find that if I eat the amount of carbs that were alloted to me for each meal, I end up with high blood sugars. I am allowed four carb units for lunch and four for dinner. I tend to stick with two for each, and my numbers are okay. I am not skimping on the peanut butter or meat. I snack (sometimes) on cottage cheese, cheese sticks or peanut butter toast and apples. I also do the occasional snack of the few measly cookies I’m allowed or veggies and dip, which aren’t protein or carbs, but the veggies are still healthy.
So now I’m supposed to eat three carb units at lunch and dinner all weekend long and see by Monday what my blood sugars do. I’m also supposed to up my protein again. This time I have been suggested to snack on slices of salami. I’ll be glad when I am done with this.
6-9 weeks.
This does meant that I will be eating chili for lunch. I don’t recommend being around me later this afternoon/evening. Chili Man chili has 20 grams of protein a serving. The carb count, once you subtract for the fiber is good as well. Eat that with a 6 gram/protein stick of cheddar and two glasses of milk and see where I end up. Not that I want to eat chili forever.
